Our ride was a bit delay until 8.30am due to the heavy fog in the morning, and is quite risky,we finally rode off with all our lights on when the fog begins to thin down.Ikata peninsula being the longest in Japan,is extremely hilly and hard to cycle, but in a positive way,it helps us to generate body heat faster to keep us warm.We arrived in Misaki port after 25km at 10.30am, and its not difficult to locate where the ferry counter is.The fare including bike is 1460 yen each, the bike alone is 450 yen,and the rest for passenger. The ferry arrived sharp and we were told to move on by the workers, and ours bikes were firmly secured by the side wall. Not many cars and trucks inside with only 2 bicycles. It took 70min for crossing, while we happily posting pictures.Had our lunch at the restaurant before we proceed on our way to Beppu,a popular town famous for its many Onsens. As we rode along the hilly road near the sea coast, the rain started to go a little heavy and Sherco bought a new Japanese raincoat at the 7-11 store for 500 yen. He tested it and he love it.This time he immediately thrown off the old raincoat, unlike the old tent which he carried for 3-4 days for nothing. The cold from the wet clothing forced me to end the day earlier in Oita and we went searching for place to camp.No more road statiosn along this stretch of road which so far been good to camp. We finally went under a flyover to set our camp, this time without all the facilities of power, toilet .Tomorrow to Beppu will be easy as its only less than 20km,and we hope to arrive early to book a hotel, after camping for a week, its time to take a well earned rest we so much deserved.
