We started at 7.30am , the weather as forecasted cloudy as we started to climb those big mountains, still on route 494, not too steep with a comfortable gradient of 6-8%,we took 2hr 45min to reach the highest point at 985m and we saw 2 RB cyclists arrived shortly after us.I found my disc brakes were not braking satisfactory on the descent, thanks to sherco again to rectify the problem. The downhill wasn't too long and soon we started to climb another monster hill on route 153,Sherco started to feel the heat and hungry ,he needed food to re-gain his energy level faster than i do,so i gave him 2 slices of bread with strawberry jam to at least get him going, he underestimated in mountainous area,is hard to find foods than in the town which we had been enjoying so far. We searched the Google map again for shorter route to find food, we turned into route 341,and the hills even get tougher with gradient up to 16%,at of the village,Sherco detoured to check out any shops while i waited, and cameback shortly looking disappointed, left with no choice but to move on,luckily the climb is over and we descent to a roadside shop where we thought could sell food, the owner with his wife did not sell food but they offer us hot instant mee ,bananas and drinks for free instead, lovely japanese family, together with his 90 yrs old father-in-law, we took some pictures. Arigato and sayonara ,with a satisfactory stomach, we happily proceed to reach a small town where we bought some foods, the shop owner woman and her daughter were very friendly and told us we can try camping in the fire station in Mimido 5km away on route 12. We reached the fire station by 5.30pm and permission granted only by 6pm after the young staff had to get approval from his boss.Happy ending for a tough day of many hills climb. Sherco commented, for sure he will want to avoid mountain roads in the remaining rides.
