Hiroshima is only 77 km away, but we are not rushing to reach there today. It will be too tiring whats more with the hilly coastal  route 2 and the ever unpredictable weather,we plan to take it easy and to find camping at the outskirt of the city, our plan is to check in one of the backpacker hostel early tomorrow morning,so that we can have more time to visit this ruin city of A-Bomb during WWII,and interesting to find out how much and how fast Hiroshima has rebuilt himself after that fateful A-Bomb.Today's ride was rather relaxing,we started at 8.30am after having to clean up our tents due to raining last night, cos' there was no shelter in the park and we forced to pitch our tents in the open.Except for a short morning shower, the afternoon heat was so hot with
my meter showing 34c.The heat from the sun is different as it built up slowly, and we had to make several stop at the convenient store to rest and drinks. We had tailwind towards 2nd half of our ride and that really help to add up the distance. We made a short diversion to Kintaikyo Wooden Bridge, built in year 1673,a famous tourist attraction in Japan. It cost 300 yen to walk on the Bridge, but we prefer to go under for better pictures, which is free. Had our lunch in one of the corner restaurant and took the opportunity to charge up our electrical appliances and also open up my wet tent to dry.At 5 pm,about 15 km to Hiroshima, just the right time and place,we found a public children park for the night camp.

The Kintai Bridge (錦帯橋 Kintai-kyō?) is a historical wooden arch bridge, in the city of Iwakuni, in Yamaguchi PrefectureJapan.
The bridge was built in 1673, spanning the beautiful Nishiki River in a series of five wooden arches, and the bridge is located on the foot of Mt.Yokoyama, at the top of which lies Iwakuni Castle.
Declared a National Treasure in 1922, Kikkou Park, which includes the bridge and castle, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Japan

One nice post of the Bridge for remembrance

The fare for crossing the bridge is 300 yen

We prefer to go under which is free

  3. It is truly a blessing to be touring on a bike. Your pictures here are a great eye-opener as the places are not the normal tourist pictures. Good.
